Arriviste
Shadyside
What we liked: unique menu, tasty drinks, really nice baristas
What we didn't like: feels like more of a art gallery than a cozy coffee shop
Arriviste's drinks blew our minds! Their seasonal menu was exactly what we look for in a coffee shop: really interesting and tasty options - not just lattes, but cold brew and other espresso specials too. Something fun for everyone and possibly the most unique menu we've seen so far! Plus, of course, the drinks were delicious. If you come to Arriviste, you've gotta try the ube latte. It was originally part of their seasonal menu, but it was so popular they added it to their permanent menu.
The baristas were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the music was fantastic - we just had to ask for the playlist. The mugs were pretty nice though a little bland (just white and simple). They sell some merch, art, and pastries too, but the food was a little overpriced, so we didn't try it. Arriviste is in a cute area of Shadyside, right by some lovely shops and a great new bookstore (shoutout Cozy Corner, HIGHLY recommend).
The biggest downfall is the decor and atmosphere. The bare white walls make it feel more like an art gallery than a cozy cafe, and the seating was very limited. We had to cram in on a couch near someone else. It was so quiet when we walked in that we felt a little awkward.

What We Ordered:

Thrilla from Manila (ube coconut latte)
- super fantastic - perfect level of sweetness, richness, and creaminess; a great balance of flavors and a beautiful purple color

Jungle Boogie (pandan-vanilla latte)
- mild flavor, but the level of sweetness was good; great natural honey flavor
Strawberry Fields Forever (strawberry matcha soda)
- super refreshing, good level of sweetness, and the matcha flavor was solid but not overly strong
Dirty Shirley Espresso Tonic
- this one was a bit controversial, some of us thought it was delightful and refreshing, but for some of us, an espresso tonic never delivers. still, this was one of the best we've ever had, so creds for that!

Mocha
- good but not the greatest mocha in Pittsburgh(redhawk perhaps). very solid dark cocoa powder flavor, but could be a bit richer and sweeter rather than bitter

Hot Cocoa
- our hot chocolate lover wasn't a big fan of this one. too bitter and not sweet and creamy like one would expect from a cocoa.
