Cafe 61C

Southside

What we liked: great menu variety, affordable

What we didn't like: quality of drinks

Cafe 61C has a very homey yet eclectic atmosphere, definitely somewhere we're comfortable staying for awhile. Our favorite touch is the custom stained glass under the serving counter. The cafe doesn't have the biggest tables, but there are plenty of them, including lovely outdoor seating. They grow beautiful sunflowers and tulips out on the patio too. Very nice and patient baristas, and unlike some shops, they usually have two baristas working at once, so the wait is never too long! The lattes and drinks are very affordable and are served in a nice big glass mug. They also great selection of drinks and pastries including: smoothies, matchas, lattes, biscotti, cookies, and scones. However, they don't have much of a specials menu (only pumpkin spice when we went), and the drinks themselves are a little bland. For the drinks we tried, at best, only one flavor came through, and at worst, we didn't taste any of the syrups at all. Not bad but nothing to write home about :(

What We Ordered:

Butter Pecan Latte

- Faint butter pecan taste, but good balance of coffee flavor and sweetness

Peach Cinnamon latte

- Really sweet, artificial peach flavor, but cinnamon flavor was tasty

Hot Choco

Not very milky or creamy, tasted more like chocolate syrup and water

Butterscotch Pumpkin Latte

- strong espresso taste, relatively sweet, but we couldn't really tell it was butterscotch nor pumpkin
